Storage and Transportation of Tile Adhesives

Tile adhesive (tile grout) is a dry-mix mortar product. Improper storage and transportation can easily lead to moisture absorption and caking, which in turn may impair its bonding performance. During storage, the product should be kept in a dry, cool place, protected from direct sunlight and humidity. The ideal storage temperature is between 5°C and 25°C, with relative humidity not exceeding 70%. Unopened products should be stored on elevated platforms (e.g., at least 20 cm above the ground). Stacking height should not exceed 10 packages to prevent damage to the lower-layer packaging due to pressure and to avoid the effects of ground moisture.

The shelf life of unopened products is typically 6 to 12 months. After opening, any remaining product should be tightly sealed—either by folding and sealing the original packaging bag or transferring it into a sealed container—and it is recommended to use up the product within one month. At construction sites, leftover products stored in a dry and well-ventilated environment should not be kept for more than 7 days. During transportation, avoid exposure to rain and severe vibrations. Before leaving the factory, the packaging should be protected by covering it with plastic film or wrapping it with plastic film, and it should be transported on pallets to prevent moisture.
