The core of construction during the rainy season is “controlling humidity, preventing moisture vapor, and ensuring dryness.” In line with the application requirements of this product, pay attention to the following five points to eliminate potential hazards at the source: 1. Strictly control the humidity of the construction environment: During construction, indoor air humidity must be kept below 80%. It’s best to avoid periods of continuous rain or heavy fog. If outdoor humidity exceeds the standard, close doors and windows to reduce indoor moisture levels. Resume construction only after humidity has reached the acceptable level, thus preventing moisture from entering the putty layer. 2. Pre-treat the substrate: Before applying the putty, make sure the wall surface is completely dry. The substrate’s moisture content must be ≤10%, and there should be no signs of seepage, dampness, or water stains. If the substrate is damp, allow it to air-dry naturally first. For walls prone to moisture (such as those adjacent to bathrooms, interior walls of balconies, or ground-floor walls), apply a layer of alkali-resistant, moisture-proof primer beforehand before applying this product.
The core of construction during the rainy season is “controlling humidity, preventing moisture vapor, and ensuring dryness.” In light of the application requirements for this product, pay attention to these five key points to eliminate potential hazards at the source:
1. Strictly control the humidity of the construction environment: During construction, indoor air humidity must be kept below 80%. It is advisable to avoid periods of continuous rain or heavy fog. If outdoor humidity exceeds the standard, close doors and windows to reduce the moisture content indoors. Resume construction only after the humidity has returned to an acceptable level, thereby preventing moisture from entering the putty layer.
2. Preliminary Base Treatment: Before applying the coating, be sure to confirm that the wall surface is completely dry, with a moisture content of no more than 10%. The surface must be free of any signs of water seepage, dampness, or water stains. If the base surface is damp, allow it to air-dry naturally first. For walls prone to moisture—such as those adjacent to bathrooms, interior walls of balconies, and ground-floor walls—a layer of alkali-resistant and moisture-proof primer should be applied in advance before proceeding with the application of this product.
3. The putty mix should be prepared scientifically: During the rainy season, when mixing putty, reduce the amount of water added (by 5% to 10% compared to normal-temperature application). After thoroughly stirring, let the mixture sit undisturbed for 5 minutes before giving it a second stir. This ensures that the putty has an appropriate consistency and is free of lumps, thereby preventing excessive moisture from causing slow drying, blistering, or mold growth. The prepared putty must be used within 2 hours; absolutely do not use putty that has been left standing too long, developed lumps, or become too thin.
4. Thickness and Frequency of Putty Application: During the rainy season, when applying putty, the principle of “thin coats applied in multiple layers” must be followed. Each coat should be 0.5–1 mm thick to avoid applying a single thick coat. After each coat is applied, wait until the putty surface has dried (when touched by hand, it should no longer feel sticky or leave any marks) before proceeding to the next coat. The interval between coats should be 1–2 times longer than that used under normal temperature conditions. It is strictly prohibited to apply subsequent coats before the previous coat has fully dried.
5. Proper post-construction maintenance is essential: After the putty has been fully applied, do not immediately open windows for ventilation (to prevent outdoor moisture from entering). Instead, first close all doors and windows and allow the surface to cure for 24 hours before gradually opening them for ventilation to ensure good air circulation indoors. In the event of heavy rain, promptly close doors and windows to prevent rainwater from splashing onto the walls and causing the putty layer to become damp. Sanding should be carried out only after the putty has dried completely (approximately 48–72 hours at room temperature; during the rainy season, this period may extend to 72–96 hours). After sanding, promptly remove any dust from the wall surface and apply the topcoat as soon as possible to form a protective layer.
